CONSEQUENCE OF SEGREGATION
the hip-hop exposure compilation
Consequence of Segregation is a hip-hop compilation that features various
underground groups from throughout the United States and other parts of
the world. The main purpose of this compilation is to show the major record
labels, which neglect the brown hip-hop artists, that we can work independently
and bring out good quality product. All songs (excluding El Nuevo
Xol, Los Tumbados, and 7 Notas 7 Colres) were chosen by the groups themselves
to represent their artistic skills and style. Los Angeles premiere
subterranean artists Voodoo Click, Phase Loko, N'Cognito, and others are
joined by Spains own 7 Notas 7 Colores and Texas Capone of Latino
Jam Records. The showcase of new and original talent is heard in groups
such as Solution, E.T.C, Afaze, and Street Life. This compilation covers
the different street sounds found in the world, b-boy, gangster, and alternative.
The award winning track Cuanto Cuesta by El Nuevo Xol is definetly
a track to lookout for; this group competed for one entire season along
side many artists in a popular Los Angeles television show called Cuanto
Cuesta el Show. At the end of the season, E.N.X won 1st place, they received
the prize of $16,000, which the group took and donated it to Central American
hurricane victims.
Buah! the single to Spains Latin Grammy nominated debut
album by 7 Notas 7 Colores is another excellent track found in this compilation.
The unusual Spaniard accent mixed with the crazy sounding lingo catches
the listeners attention and leaves you wanting to hear more. The innovation
and originality of the track Sobres by Los Tumbados, taken from
their debut album 213, gives a glimpse at the future of music. This five-man
band is absolutely fantastic!
Artists from New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, Nevada, Washington DC, Sacramento,
Los Angeles, and Barcelona, Spain collaborate to put together this special
package; Consequence of Segregation is a twenty-one tracks grassroots effort
with the purpose of exposing the wide spectrum of underground styles which
get bypassed the major record labels. There are no major nor independent
record labels supporting this project; the participation and support from
the visitors and readers of this site, as well as the word of mouth, will
suffice to aid in the development of all involved. After countless interruptions
and setbacks, it is finally here
.enjoy!!!
